Surface Preparation
Surface preparation is the most important aspect of a new flooring installation, and yet the area most often neglected. The fact is, most flooring failures occur as a result of poor substrate preparation. Working with a knowledgeable, experienced floor prep expert can help you avoid costly problems in the future.
Allegheny Contract Allegheny uses a variety of floor prep equipment and processes to properly remove old adhesives and other materials that may adversely affect installations.
Shot Blasting/Diamond Grinding
Shot blasting is a method of flooring preparation that prepares the concrete slab to assure both mechanical and chemical bonds for moisture suppression systems, epoxy flooring systems, and self-leveling underlayment. The shot blast machine propels steel beads onto the concrete substrate to remove any contaminants or bond breakers to provide a clean profiled substrate.
Diamond grinding provides a smooth concrete surface profile in situations where other methods like shot blasting, may cause striping or damage. Diamond grinding is particularly using when polishing concrete.
Moisture Suppression Systems
Moisture in concrete is the leading cause of flooring failures and is a billion dollar a year, industry-wide problem. Topically applied moisture suppression systems reduce the moisture emission transfer rate and allow flooring to be installed over concrete that exceeds manufacturer limitations.
Modern method of concrete leveling- no dry materials ever enter the building.
